When an autonomous agent does not fit
- If the process does not exist even in your head. Write the method first.
- If you want the agent to invent how you work. Without a handed-over process it will add checks, not hours.
- If the job takes two minutes once. You do not need an agent for that.
- If you will not explain “how”, only “figure it out”. Then the human attention never leaves.
Autonomy makes sense where the work must be repeated, finished without supervision, and give hours back to the gym, a meeting, or sleep.
What to do today
- Write down one task you already do yourself that eats the evening.
- Mark whether you could explain those steps to another person. If not, you will not explain them to an agent either.
- If the steps exist: put them in a workflow and run it once without you in the room. Not “nearby, just in case”.
